Coming from a small town in Southwest Georgia, I have learned to appreciate southern hospitality and a slower pace of living. My wife and I along with our two daughters moved to Hilton Head from Florida after visiting the island for 15 years. Yes, that is correct I said Florida. While Florida has its many advantages and activities, we missed being with family and living the “island life”. The Hilton Head area offered all the features that we needed to be happy and not have to face the challenges of big city life. Here we could ride our bikes on the beach or the many miles of bike trails, go fishing, play golf, enjoy the theatre, and learn about the rich history of the island. We found that the options for a great quality of life are endless. As an added benefit, my in-laws were already here, and my parents were not far away. We have found the school system to be very good for our two girls. Camps, soccer, gymnastics, and other activities for kids are abundant.
